Inside the St.-Paul monastery in Parma, many inscriptions were located by the abbess Giovanna da Piacenza during the second decade of the 16th century. The four Greek ones have been hard to interpret for centuries; this essay is a new attempt at translating them, in connection with their historical, iconographic and architectural context.
