This statement, which Ruskin referred to himself, together with other events and many opinions of contemporary and subsequent scholars, has always strongly influenced his image, generally considered a character of great moral and ethical influence, but with a little practical attitude. Vice versa, when examining his work from the beginning to the end, it seems to be possible to identify a broad vision, which links the first writings to the social and cultural commitment of the last times of his life, in which nothing seems to have ever been produced except within a broad project, in which the ability to observe and note down the reality of the built architecture is functional to the desire to affect it, in an attempt to correct the most harmful aspects.
