A modern edition of Quod caelum stet, terra moveatur by the Ferrarese humanist Celio Calcagnini, a friend of Ariosto and Erasmo is presented in this paper. The difference between Calcagnini’s arguments for his hypothesis and those by the ancient Pithagorean tradition as well those by Nicole Oresme is stressed in the preface.
