EnglishThe European Council adopted a new Regulation (n. 712/2019) to safeguard the competitiveness of EU air carriers against unfair competition and other practise implemented by non-EU airlines. The new legislation has entered into force in May 2019 and goes beyond the existing Regulation n. 868/2004, which has proved to be ineffective because, under the old Regulation, a legitimate complaint could be filed by the European air carriers whose collective share constitutes a major proportion of the total Community supply of those services.
