The 3-D time-dependent behavior of a plasma transferred electric arc discharge generated between two suspended metallic electrodes (twin-torch device) that are sometimes used inside a plasma furnace for hazardous waste treatment has been simulated by using a customized CFD commercial code FLUENT, which is parallelized over a network cluster of double processor calculators under the assumption of LTE and taking into account turbulence effects. Results are presented in order to characterize the fluid flow and the temperature field of this kind of device

Abstract
The 3-D time-dependent behavior of a plasma transferred electric arc discharge generated between two suspended metallic electrodes (twin-torch device) that are sometimes used inside a plasma furnace for hazardous waste treatment has been simulated by using a customized CFD commercial code FLUENT, which is parallelized over a network cluster of double processor calculators under the assumption of LTE and taking into account turbulence effects. Results are presented in order to characterize the fluid flow and the temperature field of this kind of deviceI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
