In the present trial, the preference of 18 adult cats (12 males and 6 females, all castrated) with regard to 2 dry Premium pet foods differing for their animal origin ingredients (T1 poultry meal, T2 fish meal) was evaluated. Feed consumption was registered every 12 hours during 2 home-tests of 12 and 48 hours respectively. Results of feed consumption in the home test 1 and in the first 12 hours of the second evidenced a clear tendency to prefer the T2 dry food (P = 0,08). A reduction of the T1 consumption was significant after 12 hours since the end of the home test 2 (12 vs 24, 36 and 48 h, P < 0,01) while T2 consumption showed a significant decrease only by night (P < 0,05). Food consumptions registered confirm the specific variability of cats in term of preferences.

Abstract
Food consumptions registered confirm the specific variability of cats in term of preferences.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
