The presence of different levels of resistance to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) in European pear (Pyrus communis L.) cultivars suggests that QTLs related to resistance can be identified. Given the polygenic nature of this trait, two linkage maps of the parental lines Passe Crassane (susceptible) and Harrow Sweet (resistant) were constructed using SSR, MFLP, AFLP, RGA and AFLP-RGA markers and four putative QTLs for fire blight resistance were identified. The related molecular markers, including two AFLP-RGAs, are able to define a resistant and a susceptible haplotype in the population analyzed.
