The enzyme nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase (NNT) transfers hydride from NADH to NADP+ coupled to H+ translocation across the inner mitochondrial membrane. In a recent study, Kampjut and Sazanov reveal that the bifunctional NNT mechanism rules the NAD(P)+/NAD(P)H interconversion ratio, which in turn regulates antioxidant defense and sirtuin actions.

Abstract
The enzyme nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase (NNT) transfers hydride from NADH to NADP+ coupled to H+ translocation across the inner mitochondrial membrane. In a recent study, Kampjut and Sazanov reveal that the bifunctional NNT mechanism rules the NAD(P)+/NAD(P)H interconversion ratio, which in turn regulates antioxidant defense and sirtuin actions.File in questo prodotto:
