The essay takes into consideration the texts referable to Sabinus’ libri ad Vitellium that we can still read in the sources. It analyzes in particular the citations of the Sabinus’ work included in Paulus’ libri ad Vitellium and those of Ulpianus concentrated in books 20 and 22 of the commentary ad Sabinum. It is considered probable, though not certain, that notes to Vitellius were also written by Cassius (but not by Aristo), which would suggest the idea that Vitellius was a jurist and that the work commented by Sabinus and perhaps annotated by Cassius, it was a simple collection of responsa attributable to veteres about succession matters written by Vitellius, similarly to what they will do then, relatively to Sabinus’ responsa, Minicius and Urseius Ferox.

Abstract
The essay takes into consideration the texts referable to Sabinus’ libri ad Vitellium that we can still read in the sources. It analyzes in particular the citations of the Sabinus’ work included in Paulus’ libri ad Vitellium and those of Ulpianus concentrated in books 20 and 22 of the commentary ad Sabinum. It is considered probable, though not certain, that notes to Vitellius were also written by Cassius (but not by Aristo), which would suggest the idea that Vitellius was a jurist and that the work commented by Sabinus and perhaps annotated by Cassius, it was a simple collection of responsa attributable to veteres about succession matters written by Vitellius, similarly to what they will do then, relatively to Sabinus’ responsa, Minicius and Urseius Ferox.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
