Ambient Intelligence is an interesting development and research scenario for Multi-Agent Systems. In this paper, we focus on the methodological support that the agent-oriented methodologies can provide to such kind of systems: in particular we present HomeManager, an application for the control of an intelligent home designed through SODA—an agent-oriented methodology. According to this vision, the user's home is seen as an intelligent environment made of independent and distributed devices, equipped with agents to support the user's goals and tasks.

Abstract

Ambient Intelligence is an interesting development and research scenario for Multi-Agent Systems. In this paper, we focus on the methodological support that the agent-oriented methodologies can provide to such kind of systems: in particular we present HomeManager, an application for the control of an intelligent home designed through SODA—an agent-oriented methodology. According to this vision, the user's home is seen as an intelligent environment made of independent and distributed devices, equipped with agents to support the user's goals and tasks.
