A key observational result that can constrain the nature of Low-Mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) is their time variability. From theory it has been suggested that transient behavior is expected from luminous (LX>10^37 erg/s) LMXBs if these sources have evolved from native X-ray binaries in the stellar field, whereas GC-LMXBs are only expected to display transient behavior at lower luminosities.

Abstract
A key observational result that can constrain the nature of Low-Mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) is their time variability. From theory it has been suggested that transient behavior is expected from luminous (LX>10^37 erg/s) LMXBs if these sources have evolved from native X-ray binaries in the stellar field, whereas GC-LMXBs are only expected to display transient behavior at lower luminosities.File in questo prodotto:
