Aspetti dell’influenza femminile nei monasteri di età moderna attraverso le "Vite" delle carmelitane scalze italiane.

The development of Carmelite monastries in Italy between the Seventeeth and Eighteenth centuries leads us to think about the way the Teresians settled in geographically and politically different realities. The close link between monastry and place, monastry and social reality will be here examined through the study of the relationships among the main families in towns where both the Carmelite settlements and monastries began. The Chronicles of the order and the life-histories of the Discalced Carmelite nuns who entered into the first Italian homes identify some of the causes of the influence exerted by these women in and outside the cloistered walls.

Il moltiplicarsi dei monasteri di carmelitane in Italia tra XVII e XVIII secolo conduce a riflettere su come le teresiane seppero inserirsi in realtà geograficamente e politicamente differenti. Lo stretto legame tra conventi e territorio, conventi e realtà sociale viene qui osservato attraverso lo studio delle relazioni mantenute tra le principali famiglie delle città in cui sorsero gli insediamenti carmelitani e le stesse comunità conventuali. Le Cronache dell’Ordine e il racconto delle vite delle scalze entrate nelle prime case italiane individuano alcune delle cause dell’influenza che queste donne esercitarono dentro e fuori le mura claustrali.
