La laurea in diritto nel Regno d'Italia napoleonico. Il caso di Bologna

The Napoleonic era marked an epochal turning point in the European juridical framework, both in the system of sources, in the contents and in University teaching. The innovations on this last aspect concerned all the disciplines, but above all the juridical ones for their political significance. The revolutionary subversion of the juridical and constitutional context, which also affected the University of Ancient Regime, gave rise to a progressive administration of the university education by the State. In Bologna, the city par excellence with a very strong university tradition, especially in the legal sciences, the innovations introduced by the French were manifested in all their disruption, both with regard to the rigorous discipline of teaching and to the updating of individual disciplines to the dictation of the new Napoleonic Codes.
