L’Italia vista dal cielo is a documentary series directed by Folco Quilici and produced by Esso Italiana from 1967 to 1978. The fourteen films are narrated with texts by some prominent Italian intellectuals and are shot using an innovative system of aerial photography. The article discusses how the series intersects some discourses of the time (also in the geographical discipline) about the new crisis of representability of Italian landscape, a problem these films symptomatically try to remedy.
