La giovinezza, un imperativo anagrafico di primo Novecento

Abstract · Youth, an age-related imperative of the early 20th century · When, at the beginning of the xxth Century, the avant-gardes rise, youth is no longer a simple temporal aspect and a generational indication, but it becomes an essential requirement of these artistic movements born to fight tradition. Paradoxically, the more the academic erudition enormously increased the knowledge of the past, the more the young generations pursued its removal. They only wished to live in the present time and claimed, with Nietzsche, the therapeutic role of oblivion. In this way they wanted to avoid that the burden of the past prevented progress and new experiences. Never like in this period the struggle of the young men against the gerontocracy was angry, as show Renato Serra’s ascertainment and the aggressive claims of Mario Morasso, Marinetti, Papini, Soffici.

Riassunto · Con la nascita delle avanguardie di primo Novecento la giovinezza non indica più soltanto un aspetto temporale e generazionale ma diventa un indispensabile requisito strutturale di questi movimenti antipassatisti. Paradossalmente, quanto più gli studi accademici avevano smisuratamente accresciuto lo spessore temporale tanto più le giovani generazioni invocavano la rimozione del passato e una vita tutta al presente, fino a sancire, con Nietzsche, il ruolo terapeutico dell’oblio, per evitare che l’insostenibile fardello della storia appesantisca il passo dell’uomo. Mai come in questo periodo la lotta dei giovani contro la gerontocrazia è stata violenta, come dimostrano le constatazioni di Renato Serra e le pronunzie aggressive di Mario Morasso, Marinetti, Papini, Soffici.
