"Romanticism, Self-Canonization, and the Business of Poetry" sheds light on the underrated relation between business and the art of writing, deconstructing the idea of the romantic author as a superior figure solely inspired by uncontaminated natural landscapes and ideals of justice and liberty. Gamer notes how literature was not merely connected with political matters, but also strongly linked to economic issues that had major influences on the aesthetic choices and canons of the time, therefore, Romantic poets' literary works are not to be solely regarded as artistic productions but also as well thought out and planned business ventures. The goal of Gamer's volume is, thus, exploring the connection between the aesthetic realm and the economic domain that affected the production of Romantic poets, through the analysis of some selected poetry re-collections by William Wordsworth, Charlotte Smith, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Robert Southey, P.B. Shelley and publisher John Bell.
