Abstract

Every energy efficiency intervention should be conducted following a global and integrated ap-proach among project, production, construction and management, grounded on quality and environ-mental and social responsibility of designers and users vis-à-vis the built patrimony. The present pa-per offers a starting point for a reflection on the renovation and the sustainable development of the recent patrimony built in the 70s, in order to point out its evolution in terms of living comfort and buildings’ quality, as expressed and perceived during the years. The critical analysis of the proposed project takes into account the aspects connected to the living and performing quality before and after the project, to the environmental impact of materials and technologies used. An energy refurbish-ment intervention is shown as case study, concerning an apartment located on the sixth floor of a building in Bologna, built at the beginning of the '70s, with reinforced concrete frame structure and brick external walls. The renovation intervention mainly aimed at improving the energy performance and increasing the living comfort, through the implementation of precise integrated eco-sustainable strategies: internal insulation of walls and slab by inserting calcium silicate hydrate panels, interior wall finishes with clay-based plaster, replacement of windows, insertion of adjustable solar shading, realization of a controlled mechanical ventilation system for continuous air recirculation, installation of a domotic electric system. This paper analyses in detail the building renovation technologies used, by examining on site certain thermal-hygrometric parameters to evaluate the efficiency and effective-ness of the interventions carried out during the living phase.
