After the preliminary study of prevalence of Anisakidae larvae in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)and the high prevalence found, a sample of 25 fresh specimens of European sea bass was examined for specie identification of anisakid nematodes by carefully research in viscera and whole body cavity. All larvae recovered were identified by light microscopy and molecular biology as belonging to the specie Anisakis simplex sensu stricto. The high prevalence (> 60 %) of Anisakis simplex s.str. is a serious danger for the consumer. Professional control of fish, immediate evisceration and destruction of viscera can be the way to limit this problem.

Abstract
After the preliminary study of prevalence of Anisakidae larvae in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)and the high prevalence found, a sample of 25 fresh specimens of European sea bass was examined for specie identification of anisakid nematodes by carefully research in viscera and whole body cavity. All larvae recovered were identified by light microscopy and molecular biology as belonging to the specie Anisakis simplex sensu stricto. The high prevalence (> 60 %) of Anisakis simplex s.str. is a serious danger for the consumer. Professional control of fish, immediate evisceration and destruction of viscera can be the way to limit this problem.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
