On August 8th, the UAE’s flag carrier Etihad Airways signed the “Transaction Implementation Agreement” (TIA) by which Etihad becomes the major shareholder of Alitalia-CAI owing 49% of its share capital. The transaction strengthens Alitalia by providing the former flag carrier with new liquidity and a strong partnership, replacing Air France-KLM whose share-capital was diluted earlier this year.
