Variazioni sul naufragio nella poesia di Pascoli

This essay analyzes the marine symbolism and the visions of the shipwreck in Pascoli's poetry, representatives of a conception of the existence distinguished by the idea of dissolution and at the same time of rebirth. Through the comparison with the main interpreters of death by water in the panorama of modernity - from Romantics to Symbolists, from Coleridge to Poe, Baudelaire and Rimbaud - the originality of the "cupio dissolvi" of Pascoli is highlighted, particularly in figures of the Castaway, Odysseus, Myrrhine, Glaucus, Alexandros, between classicism and suggestions of ancient Indian wisdom. This is an unprecedented exploration of the abyss and of Being suspended between Everything and Nothingness, the vertigo of annihilation and the dream of palingenesis.

Questo saggio analizza l'inquieto simbolismo marino e le visioni del naufragio nella poesia di Pascoli, rappresentative di una concezione dell'esistere contraddistinta dall'idea della dissoluzione e al tempo stesso della rinascita. Attraverso il confronto con i principali interpreti della morte per acqua nel panorama della modernità - dai romantici ai simbolisti, da Coleridge a Poe, Baudelaire e Rimbaud - si evidenzia l'originalità del "cupio dissolvi" pascoliano, particolarmente nelle figure del Naufrago e di Odisseo, Myrrhine, Glauco, Alexandros, tra classicità e suggestioni dell'antica sapienza indiana. Emerge così un'inedita esplorazione dell'abisso e dell'essere sospeso tra Tutto e Nulla, vertigine dell'annullamento e sogno di palingenesi.
