Il Ticino e lo studio della teologia in età moderna

During the renovation after the Council of Trent, the formation of clerics became one of the most important aspects of the proposed reforms for the local Churches. This regards their interior structure and its denominational distinction in territories at the border. As there were no specific structures, the clerics from Ticino, in a kind of peregrination in their formation, had to leave their region. They were pushed to acquire specializations and theological degrees in other places, first of all in the diocesan institutions of Como and Milan (in primis in the Helvetic College), without excluding the contribution offered by the colleges of religious orders.

Nella rinnovata stagione post-tridentina, la formazione del personale ecclesiastico divenne per le Chiese locali, uno degli assi portanti della proposta riformatrice, sia al loro interno sia, nei territori di frontiera, nella dialettica confessionale. In assenza di strutture specifiche, i chierici ticinesi, in una sorta di peregrinatio formativa, travalicarono lo spazio regionale, spinti ad acquisire specializzazioni e gradi teologici, dapprima nelle istituzioni diocesane di Como e Milano (in primis, presso il Collegio Elvetico), senza però escludere l’apporto dei collegi degli ordini religiosi.
