This paper presents the PODCAST project (platform for the optimization of the distribution using data from smart meters and distributed storage systems). The project aims at identifying and implementing solutions for the management of active distribution networks, with the presence of distributed generation, possibly controllable loads and distributed storage systems. The architecture of the proposed system is presented and the advanced functionalities, which will be added to an existing platform for the management of distribution networks, are described.
