Dear Members and Colleagues, While you were treating patients, teaching students, devel- oping materials or performing research in order to improve dentistry for the benefit of our patients, a core team of the IAAD was preparing next year’s dental highlight: the 3rd Biennial Meeting of the IAAD. Due to the unique constella- tion of having a President that wears two hats, we are able to organize a joint meeting with the Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Conservativa e Restaurativa (AIC, the Italian Academy of Conservative Dentistry and Restorative Den- tistry), of which Lorenzo Breschi has been President since 2018/19. Teaming up with this well-established and ex- tremely successful Academy is a great opportunity for the IAAD, which is still in its infancy. The meeting will take place in Bologna, Italy from Thurs- day, May 9th, to Saturday, May 11th, 2019. The main topic is “Worn Dentition – the Adhesive Way”. Please go to the meet- ing’s website: https://accademiaitalianadiconservativa.it/en/ events/21st-annual-congress-worn_dentition-the-adesive-way/ and download the program. You will see that we have put together a program with the best of the field to present you with relevant information for your daily work. The official lan- guages of the congress are English and Italian with simulta- neous translation from Italian to English and vice-versa. Please click the button “on-line registration” on the con- gress website and preregister. You may be surprised that AIC members do not pay for the registration, while we are paying €250 before March 15 and €280 after this date. However, AIC members do not have to pay participation fee for their annual meeting with their membership fee. The exchange rate of € to US$ is approximately 1:1, so you can see it is an excel- lent deal. For about $250, you get 3 days of state-of-the-art continuing education. We will have a poster session as well. All individuals (IAAD and AIC members and non-members) involved in adhesive dentistry and related fields are invited to submit an abstract for consideration for presentation at the IAAD/AIC poster ses- sion, which is open to everyone in all categories, including clinical reports, clinical research, and laboratory research. Accepted abstracts will be printed with authors’ names and titles in the program book of the meeting and as a whole in the Journal of Adhesive Dentistry. Furthermore, for those who qualify, there is the option to participate in the IAAD/AIC poster competition. We will grant 3 awards (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) for each category. The winners of the Student Scientist category will receive the “Presidential IAAD Scientist Award”. The winners in the Junior Scientist category will receive the “Fusayama IAAD Scientist Award”, and the winners in the cli- nician category will receive the “IAAD Clinician Award”. For details, please check the “call for abstracts” webpage at: http://adhesivedentistry.org/iaad-2019-meeting/. Both are definitely worth the trip.
