The population structure of Aphanius fasciatus in the brackish water channels in northern Italy was studied. Differences were observed in the number of individuals of each sex and size composition. The overall males to females sex ratio was 1:1.56. The reproduction is extended and lasts from April to August. An high variability of morphological parameters were detected and the possibility to farm the species for mosquito controlled is also discussed.
