1969 in Italy: social breakups and political continuity: 1969 was certainly a year of breakups in the recent history of republican Italy: big demonstrations of workers ("autunno caldo") took place one year afetr May 1968 and protest became more radical; the Red Brigades were born in 1969 and the Piazza Fontana attack heralded the "anni di piombo". Was 1969 also a turning point for new political elites? In our paper, we shall highlight that, despite the two changes of government in less than one year, the political alliances and the government elites remained almost unchanged in comparison with the previous period.
