This paper describes the process of development of the online music making tool Playsound.space, an open platform to play with Creative Commons audio content from Freesound using semantic queries and a selection informed by spectrogram representations. After reviewing the initial interface we present new features aiming to enhance inclusiveness and participation and better support musical creativity by providing users with finer control of audio processing. This includes the integration of a multi-user chat system providing embedded language translation, and a player based on Web Audio allowing real time sound editing and stretching. We also discuss evaluations conducted, and provide directions for future developments of the platform.

Abstract
This paper describes the process of development of the online music making tool Playsound.space, an open platform to play with Creative Commons audio content from Freesound using semantic queries and a selection informed by spectrogram representations. After reviewing the initial interface we present new features aiming to enhance inclusiveness and participation and better support musical creativity by providing users with finer control of audio processing. This includes the integration of a multi-user chat system providing embedded language translation, and a player based on Web Audio allowing real time sound editing and stretching. We also discuss evaluations conducted, and provide directions for future developments of the platform.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
