A. Schott is generally credited with the identification of the generic τις in Marcell. fr. 23 Vinzent (ap. Euseb. C. Marc. I 3) with Aristophanes of Byzantium; indeed, he thought of the homonymous comic poet. In the same passage, the modern scholar corrected the ms. reading μέτρων into ἐμμέτρων, an intervention not acknowledged as his in modern editions.
