Sign Painting: The Revival of Painted Lettering

There has been something of a revival in recent years of a popular form of commercial art in the United States, one that was running the risk of being crushed by the massive use of digital technologies. Sign painting is the art of creating hand-painted signs, placards and window and vehicle decorations to advertise small businesses. Although the phenomenon is clearly back on the rise in the great cities of New York, Seattle and Boston, it is in states like Texas, Minnesota, Ohio and above all California that the tradition has always been alive and kicking.
