IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) has presently 10 active Technical Committees. To communicate better the nature, relevance, and great work of these Technical Committees, the Society has agreed to present articles in IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine that focus on each Technical Committee.The first Technical Committee article appears in this issue of IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine and is presented by the HVDC Cable Systems Technical Committee, chaired by Giovanni Mazzanti. This committee has been very active over the past few years providing positive contributions to DEIS-related areas.
