The article takes into account the two orthographies that have been proposed for writing Piedmontese, in the 1930s and around the year 2000, called Pacotto-Viglongo and Villata-Eandi respectively. These orthographies are tested for linguistic accuracy, possibility of acceptance by the speech community as symbol of social and linguistic identity, and suitability for usage on the Internet and other CMC domains. The latter parameter is of the utmost importance in leading the design and revision of orthographic choices of today's planners and activists of Regional and Minority Languages (of Italy and beyond), and should supersede choices due to teaching traditions and learnability. Finally, Piedmontese's planning is suggested to follow the model developed and realized for Corsican, and a slightly revised version of the Pacotto-Viglongo orthography is recommended as the best choice for Piedmontese maintenance and revitalization.
