The study of the impost capitals of the church of St. John, also in anticipation of a complete catalogue of the pieces, decorating the inner building, at the groundfloor such as in the galleries,has brought to the conclusion that - unlike today people belive - all theese sculptures have been made in the age of Justinian. Therefore the present building isn't fruit of many phases chronologically distinct and separated in time, but of a only big workshop, dating back to emperor Justinian in VI century A.D.
