The essay focuses on some aspects of Cesare Segre'work and role in the context of the history of Romance Philology, and aims to stress his contribution to the renewal of the discipline as well as his loyalty to a well established tradition as regards comparativism and the relationship between philology and linguistics.
L'articolo si incentra su alcuni aspetti dell'opera scientifca di Cesare Segre e sulla sua collocazione all'interno degli studi romanzi, sottolineandone la novità ma anche la fedeltà a una tradizione che risale alle origini stesse della disciplina, in particolare per la centralità accordata alla comparatistica e al nesso filologia-linguistica.
