L'articolo si incentra su alcuni aspetti dell'opera scientifca di Cesare Segre e sulla sua collocazione all'interno degli studi romanzi, sottolineandone la novità ma anche la fedeltà a una tradizione che risale alle origini stesse della disciplina, in particolare per la centralità accordata alla comparatistica e al nesso filologia-linguistica.
