The island of St. Andrew is one of the most fascinating and mysterious places of the city of Venice. Due to its strategic location, in the sixteenth century, on it it was built the eponymous Fort of St. Andrew, on the basis of the architect Michele Sanmicheli of Verona. The purpose was to prevent access in the lagoon of the enemy fleets (in the first place the Ottomans), which necessarily had to pass from the narrow passage. Fascinating is also the description of Giacomo Casanova who was imprisoned there for a few months. On the back is a large basin, called siluripedio, which makes metaphysical relationship with the surrounding environment. Le Corbusier would have called the Forte a structure with high poetic reaction. Every part is indeed steeped in history, nature, silence, light, romantic ruins, military power and calm. A new life of Forte is offered by a reuse project in which this magnificent architecture shows itself at the same time presents itself as exhibition area for art and architecture events. A scientific restoration, consistent with the Charter of Krakow, alongside new crystal architecture, that dialogue with those stones from Istria, making austere and authoritative Forte; a part of the city, regenerated by functions that are typical of the city; an architecture in which technological innovation, sustainable technologies, the teaching of history and man's intelligence coexist.
