Case nel bosco per godere sole e stelle = Houses in the Wood to enjoy the Sun and the Stars

In 1938, Gio Ponti and Bernard Rudofsky worked out a project for a hotel ‘in the woods’ in which architecture and landscape should blend into one in an endless toeing and froing whereby the indoor spills into the outdoor and the landscape breaks into the house. Based on Ponti’s original drawings, the author goes through the space of one of the hotel ‘rooms’ by building a physical model of it. The photographs of the hotel, taken from the perspectives mentioned by the author and the angle argued from the general layout, are a way to understand the relationships between man, architecture and landscape, as suggested by the drawings and descriptions of the project.

Nel 1938 Gio Ponti e Bernard Rudofsky elaborano il progetto per un albergo ‘nel bosco’ in cui architettura e paesaggio si fondono in una continua oscillazione che vede gli ambienti interni riversarsi verso gli spazi aperti e il paesaggio irrompere all’interno dello spazio domestico. A partire dai disegni originali di Ponti l’autrice ricostruisce lo spazio di una ‘stanza’ dell’albergo attraverso la costruzione di un modello fisico. Le immagini fotografiche che lo riprendono, realizzate rispettando i punti di vista indicati dall’autore e l’orientamento desunto dalla planimetria generale, rappresentano la verifica delle relazioni fra uomo, architettura e luogo suggerite dai disegni e dalle descrizioni del progetto.
