The paper analyzes the mutual guarantee funds institution (known as Confidi), with his growing role in the recent years Italian economical system. The mutual guarantee funds dominant activity is focused on offering to the affiliated firms a mutual guarantee on banks financing. The paper also examines the development in legislation, referring to the reformed fifth title of the Testo Unico Bancario and to the enabling act reforming the same mutual guarantee funds.
