This paper deals with the analysis of the microstructure resulting from the extrusion of profiles of AA6060, AA6082, and AA7075 alloys. Experimental analyses on macro and micro scale in the dead metal zone, the shear intensive zone flowing in the profiles´ boundaries, and the main deformation zone flowing in the inner profiles areas are shown based on light optical and electron backscatter diffraction (LOM, EBSD). The broad range of metallurgic investigations show the differences of the microstructure development during the extrusion process of these three alloys. Based on this an advanced finite-element-simulation using a micro- and macroscale material model is analyzed to predict the grain size development.

Abstract
This paper deals with the analysis of the microstructure resulting from the extrusion of profiles of AA6060, AA6082, and AA7075 alloys. Experimental analyses on macro and micro scale in the dead metal zone, the shear intensive zone flowing in the profiles´ boundaries, and the main deformation zone flowing in the inner profiles areas are shown based on light optical and electron backscatter diffraction (LOM, EBSD). The broad range of metallurgic investigations show the differences of the microstructure development during the extrusion process of these three alloys. Based on this an advanced finite-element-simulation using a micro- and macroscale material model is analyzed to predict the grain size development.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
