In the light of the characterization of the Danaids in classical Greek poetry, Melanipp. PMG 757,1 could be restored as οὐ γὰρ Ἰαινῶν φόρευν μορφᾶεν εἶδος, while at l. 2 West’s proposal ὀργάν seems to be the best solution. At l. 5 the asyndeton of the transmitted text can be maintained.
