The author proposes a philological investigation of the complex Medieval tradition of manuscripts written in Romance languages, which aims to bear in mind the methods of stratigraphic archaeology and anthropology, following the multidisciplinary approaches wished for by contemporary Humanities. A few sparks are offered in order to better understand the tradition of Occitan troubadours, pointing out in particular some questions related to problems such as authorship, identification, and the understanding of the nature of first written sources. Moreover, the author points out that some undisputed philological acquisitions are mere critical hypotheses that bibliography has transmitted, ratified and actually ceased to discuss.

Abstract
The author proposes a philological investigation of the complex Medieval tradition of manuscripts written in Romance languages, which aims to bear in mind the methods of stratigraphic archaeology and anthropology, following the multidisciplinary approaches wished for by contemporary Humanities. A few sparks are offered in order to better understand the tradition of Occitan troubadours, pointing out in particular some questions related to problems such as authorship, identification, and the understanding of the nature of first written sources. Moreover, the author points out that some undisputed philological acquisitions are mere critical hypotheses that bibliography has transmitted, ratified and actually ceased to discuss.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
