F. San Vicente’s study ““Hablado/Parlato: aspectos lingüísticos y discursivos de la comunicación oral” presents an overview of the main topics concerning orality in face-to-face and remote communication. Firstly, some remarks on linguistic historiography are made in order to present the methodological progress made in the study of orality with research on style, first, and on pragmatics and discourse analysis, later. Based on such framework, the main literature on the study of spoken language in conversation and its structure are presented together with their specific mechanisms in face-to-face and remote interaction. Secondly, linguistic and discourse elements are presented in a contrastive perspective between (peninsular) Spanish and Italian, in order to highlight elements on which the teaching of Spanish for Italianspeaking students of interpreting and translation can be based.
