El sistema de los ‘status’ de Eugrafio

By collecting and analysing the rhetorical glosses of the Commentum Terenti attributed to Eugraphius, it is possible to reconstruct with a good level of accuracy the status-system employed by the commentator. This system is very similar, although not identical, to the system of thirteen issues also found in the Rhetores Latini Minores. This analysis allows us to appreciate the commentary as a whole and sheds light on the figure and the motivations of Eugraphius, both a commentator of Terentius and a professor of rhetoric.
