The article takes Karl Marx's last travel (the travel to Algiers in 1882 as a background for the interrogation of the developments of his thought after the publication of Capital, volume 1, in 1867. Such important concepts as the world market and world history, the commons and class struggle are tested in the article, making the point that in his last years Marx was developing, although in a fragmentary way, a multilinear understanding of capitalist development.
