Past, present, and future of the IAAD

Dear Colleagues and Friends, it is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new president of the International Academy of Adhesive Dentistry (IAAD). The IAAD, as you know, was founded a few years back based on an idea shared over a cup of coffee at an IADR meeting by Jean-Francois and Markus to organize our efforts between different specialties and on a global level. We have seen at our past meetings that there certainly is the need to combine our strengths and promote adhesive all over the world. It is interesting that adhesive dentistry has developed differently in different countries, sometimes based on insurance company reimbursement rules, sometimes based on highly esthetic and expensive treatments. We however have to overcome that and promote the best possible and least invasive dentistry for our patients. Adhesive dentistry has gained tremendous popularity in Italy and you know that I have been greatly involved with a variety of organizations, as current President of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry and as President Elect of the Accademia Italiana di Conservativa e Restaurativa (AIC). To take this to a global worldwide level, however, is it specific and very challenging task, which I am honored and happy to take on. I ask you to join me in this effort and appreciate your help and participation for the benefit of our profession and our patients. For this purpose, we are currently working for a joint meeting between IAAD and AIC to be held in Bologna on May 9-11, 2019, combining the best of researchers with the greatest clinicians in an exciting Program.
