This paper provides examples of recent solutions for Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer (SWIPT), representing a high demanding capability of future 5G network wireless devices, deploying both near- and far-field transmission mechanisms. In the first example, existing mobile phone antennas are used for resonant capacitive coupling, in addition to the standard communication role. In the second case, a single-port antenna is able to receive UHF power for harvesting energy while communicating in the UWB band. In both cases, the strategic role of the frequency-diplexing network is deeply discussed.

Abstract
This paper provides examples of recent solutions for Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer (SWIPT), representing a high demanding capability of future 5G network wireless devices, deploying both near- and far-field transmission mechanisms. In the first example, existing mobile phone antennas are used for resonant capacitive coupling, in addition to the standard communication role. In the second case, a single-port antenna is able to receive UHF power for harvesting energy while communicating in the UWB band. In both cases, the strategic role of the frequency-diplexing network is deeply discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
