Review of a collection of Hebrew liturgical poems concerning the massacres of the 1096 crusade in the Rhine valley. Beside an evaluation of the volume, a reflection is offered on the problem of using poetry (and fictional narrative in general) as a historical source. Liturgical compositions seem to deny the punctual aspect of history in favour of iteration. The question arises of how to understand these texts as historical sources and the Conception of history of the communities trasmitting and reciting these poems.

Abstract
Review of a collection of Hebrew liturgical poems concerning the massacres of the 1096 crusade in the Rhine valley. Beside an evaluation of the volume, a reflection is offered on the problem of using poetry (and fictional narrative in general) as a historical source. Liturgical compositions seem to deny the punctual aspect of history in favour of iteration. The question arises of how to understand these texts as historical sources and the Conception of history of the communities trasmitting and reciting these poems.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
