The role of an accurate time-frequency analysis of a time-modulated array in order to evaluate its radiation performance is discussed. By carefully taking into account the non-linear behavior of the radio-frequency switches in the feeding network and the unavoidable presence of electromagnetic couplings between the radiating elements, it is shown to which extent the system performances differ from those derived in the ideal case when considering isotropic uncoupled elements. Representative results, considering benchmark switching configurations and different realistic antenna models, are reported and discussed, also in a comparative fashion.

Abstract: | The role of an accurate time-frequency analysis of a time-modulated array in order to evaluate its radiation performance is discussed. | |
