Urban regeneration is an increasingly important issue for European cities and for Italy, where it represents a potential economic value due to the considerable amount of underused or unused assets. It also represents an opportunity to realize the concept of sustainable city (Musco, 2009), recovering goods and soil, and building inclusive decision-making processes, as indicated by the Leipzig Charter. The article collects a number of regeneration initiatives based on shared responsibility in Italy, which result to be smaller and more spread out into the urban fabric than their European equivalents - ranging from incentivized forms, to accompanied and self-managed forms, often contaminated by social innovation and anticipated by spontaneous initiatives of re-appropriation of spaces and public goods. Demonstrating how urban regeneration realized by and with local communities can represent a resource for Italian cities, to be valued and supported by appropriate means.

Abstract
Demonstrating how urban regeneration realized by and with local communities can represent a resource for Italian cities, to be valued and supported by appropriate means.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
