Abstract. The question of precarious work for women brings out the ambivalence of the legal tools and policies concerned with justice. Although feminist legal theory has had a role in forging these tools and policies, it is now criticising them as "unkept promises" of liberalism and democracy. In focusing on this question, my discussion on the book Donne, diritto, diritti seeks to underscore the critical contribution the book makes to the debate.
