Sophia Vasalou’s book sets very high standards for future scholarly research on Ibn Taymiyya’s intellectual legacy. The book proposes an alternative story of Ibn Taymiyya’s relationship to the classical debates about ethics. Vasalou reconstructs the complex texture of Ibn Taymiyya’s “intellectual topography” by identifying the main actors with whom Ibn Taymiyya polemically engaged as far as ethical questions and related theological and jurisprudential issues were concerned.

Abstract
Sophia Vasalou’s book sets very high standards for future scholarly research on Ibn Taymiyya’s intellectual legacy. The book proposes an alternative story of Ibn Taymiyya’s relationship to the classical debates about ethics. Vasalou reconstructs the complex texture of Ibn Taymiyya’s “intellectual topography” by identifying the main actors with whom Ibn Taymiyya polemically engaged as far as ethical questions and related theological and jurisprudential issues were concerned.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
