De l'université à l'usine. Italie et Allemagne (1968-1973)

The article focuses on the declining phase of 1968 both in Italy and in Western Germany, with particular attention for changes concerning the relationships between workers and students. It will be argued that the specific interaction forms developed during the high phase of 68 were conducive for the successive transformation of part of the student movements into political militants devoted to the mobilisation of workers along a revolutionary path. With regard to some categories and concepts offered by social scientists, the article highlights the most influential factors for the evolution of both the Italian and the West German students’ movements into fragmented groups with different political strategies.In fact, in both countries the students’ movements slowly dissolved in favour of other forms of political activism addressing the “proletariat” in different ways.
