One of the main drawbacks of 3D Ray Tracing (RT) field prediction is the high computation time, which is strictly related to complexity and size of the environment database. In the present work two speed up methods for RT algorithms are presented: the first one operates on reducing the size of the input database, the second on reducing the number of rays to be handled by the RT algorithm. The two methods are shown to be effective in cutting computation time virtually without degradation of the results.

Abstract
One of the main drawbacks of 3D Ray Tracing (RT) field prediction is the high computation time, which is strictly related to complexity and size of the environment database. In the present work two speed up methods for RT algorithms are presented: the first one operates on reducing the size of the input database, the second on reducing the number of rays to be handled by the RT algorithm. The two methods are shown to be effective in cutting computation time virtually without degradation of the results.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
